A 17th Century village pub in Woodditton, situated in the picturesque heart of horse racing country near Newmarket.
Following a devastating fire in 2018, we worked tirelessly to bring this fantastic building back to life ensuring we retain its charm whilst adding a few modern twists and bursts of colour. And, we have been able to add 9 new bedrooms in The Barn – so you can stay even longer!
The result (we hope!) is, a cosy, relaxed setting to kick off your boots, wellies or otherwise - enjoying time with friends and family. We are foodies at heart – so expect to find pub classics as well as a regularly changing menu that focuses on our local access to amazing meats, award winning cheeses and the best Fenland veg.

Our chefs work closely with local fishermen and butchers in Wells-next-the-Sea and around North Norfolk, taking delight in producing locally-sourced, fresh and delicious meals. The beef cattle fattened on salt marshes belonging to ancient estates and the creels of lobster and baskets of mussels and crabs brought straight up from the quay have a special, unbeatable flavour.

Once a smuggler’s hideout, The Lifeboat Inn, has offered shelter to travellers, and a place for the local community to meet, eat and drink, for over 500 years. The Lifeboat Inn is in the North Norfolk coastal village of Thornham and sits by the salt marshes with views out to sea.
The food on offer is as you would expect from a pub with access to the best Norfolk produce from land and sea. Home to 16 bedrooms, and a further 12 bedrooms down the road at The Chequers Inn, enjoy the slower pace of life that can last for as long as you choose.

This 16th century pub has had a chequered past in terms of offering if you’ll excuse the pun. Once a coach house and an inn, next a country pub, then a hotel. Now part of the Chestnut collection, The Chequers is a drinkers pub once again, offering local and artisan beer, wine and spirits with a vibrant lineup of street food vendors.
